Learn to make your SEO services more efficient, from finding clients to working on projects and reporting. Discover what works in SEO today and how to use AI and top free and paid industry tools to streamline your current SEO processes.

This course is based on practical, step-by-step instructions that you can apply to your business immediately. By the end of it, you will have implemented several new process upgrades to offer better SEO services to your current and new customers.

Who is this course for

Small agency owners

This course is for you if you run a small digital marketing agency and are planning to or already offering SEO as one of your services.

Freelancers

If you are an independent freelancer (web developer, UX practitioner, social media marketer, etc.) already offering or planning to offer SEO services.

Time commitment

You should expect to spend 24 hours over four weeks. 12 hours on formal sessions (learning and office hours) and 12 hours on post-class resource review. This will amount to about 6 hours weekly commitment.

Course syllabus

Over four weeks you will learn (theory and practice) the following eight must-know SEO concepts. We will discuss these concepts from the standpoint of you being the agency owner or freelancer.

1. How search engines work

You will learn how search engines discover, index, and rank pages, SERP anatomy, AI Overviews, and SGE, as well as how to future proof your rankings.

2. Technical SEO

You will learn how to run a technical SEO audit, which tools to use, and what to pay attention to and ignore. We will discuss various tools both free and paid.

3. Keyword research / how people search

You will learn what relevance means, how to conduct topic research, starting with the audience and its journey to getting the keywords into buckets for content creation.

4. On-page SEO

You will learn content optimization and key page elements to optimize and avoid over-optimization. We will also discuss how SEO and UX work together to match user intent.

5. Off-page SEO

You will learn about backlinks, what to avoid in link building and how to approach getting backlinks for your clients’ websites.

6. Measuring SEO

You will learn about tracking SEO performance. What to track and what’s a waste of time. How to track your SEO results to maximize your client’s performance and your agency efficiency.

7. SEO reporting

You will learn what to report and what to omit from your client-facing reports, as well as different report types for various clients. You will also get a report template.

8. Finding clients

You will learn how to find your niche, conduct pre-pitch SERP audits, create proposals, and onboard clients. You will get access to resources and templates.

Office hours

At the end of each week we will meet for 1 hour to discuss your questions and audit your websites. There are four office hours sessions planned in this course.

Yes, each session will be recorded for you to watch if you missed it. It’s also helpful to review the videos if you have questions.

Are there course prerequisites?

Current digital marketing freelancing practice or running a small digital marketing agency. This course is geared towards an intermediate-level student.

What’s the expected time commitment?

You are expected to commit 3 hours weekly to online sessions and 1-2 hours weekly to assignments. In total 4-5 hours per week. Beyond that, you can spend additional time implementing things you’ve learned in this course.
